Richardson: No money to homeport CVN at Mayport

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson told the Virginian-Pilot that it will be “very difficult” to get funding for upgrading Naval Station Mayport so that a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier can homeport there.

“In the current budget environment, it’s going to be very, very difficult to find the funds to get that project started,”

“So really, until we get that situation squared away, it’s going to be difficult. We’re on our eighth year in a row of a continuing resolution. We still don’t have a budget, so that makes it that much more hard.”
