The 145th Airlift Wing of the North Carolina Air National Guard will transition to the C-17 in fiscal year 2018 and the tail flash of the aircraft was recently unveiled.

The design is credited to Master Sgt. Gary McNeill, Master Sgt. Rodney Hall, Tech. Sgt. Charles Gerow, Staff Sgt. Erik Maiers, and Senior Airman Victor Ramirez. It is on display at the dining facility at the North Carolina Air National Guard Base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
