Taiwan still searching for misfired HF-3

Spokesman for Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, Maj. Gen. Chen Chung-chi, briefed the local media that the military is still searching for the Hsiung Feng-3 (HF-3) supersonic anti-ship missile that was accidentally fired last year.

The incident killed the captain of a fishing boat as the missile locked on to the vessel and hit it. The official account last year was that the warhead did not explode and the missile went into the water.

However, an anonymous source told the press that missile could have detonated and therefore exploded into pieces.
