Last B-52 gunner to retire

Chief Master Sgt. Rob Wellbaum is the last B-52 gunner in active service and he will retire today at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

He had accumulated more than 1,000 hours on the B-52 before the guns were phased out from the bomber in 1992.

  1. An end in American air defense. Father was a B-17 pilot, drafted again for Korea. Still living and still refusing to fly. Last Gunner is an end of erea of dedicated, fierce support by heroes for their crews, and mission. Thanks.
