Retired army Maj. Gen. Hsieh Chia-kang is said to have been recruited by another former officer to spy for China.

Hsieh was commander of the missile command until he step down earlier this year.

“We will communicate with the US through appropriate channels and explain our counterespionage and damage control efforts. I believe the US will appreciate our efforts,” Chen said.
