Taiwan’s Han Kuang computer war game validates need for F-35B to repulse Chinese carrier strike force

The computer war game portion of Taiwan’s Han Kuang exercise this month revealed weaknesses in the island’s defense against a Chinese carrier strike force.

It was found that the island lacked sufficient surveillance capability to detect the enemy battle group lurking off the east coast of Taiwan. A naval task force assigned to counter the PLA warships was badly beaten due to lack of air support from the air force.

The defenders managed to turn the tables and repulse the attack only when the F-35B was included in the simulations.
