Heads of Royal Australian Navy, Vice Adm. Tim Barrett, has admitted that there might be a design problem on the Canberra-class landing helicopter dock (LHD).

Both ships are said to have oil leaks in their propulsion systems and metal particles were detected in the lubricants of HMAS Adelaide. The ship is now dry-docked at Garden Island in Sydney Harbour for naval engineers to troubleshoot the issue.

Barrett said the issue is a setback and HMAS Adelaide will miss the Talisman Sabre exercise next month.
