Syrian Su-22 shot down by F/A-18E

Boeing’s Super Hornet has scored its first air-to-air kill when a Syrian Su-22 was shot down by a U.S. Navy F/A-18E on Jun. 18.

The Syrian aircraft was bombing U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces fighters south of Tabqah before it got shot down.

USS George H.W. Bush is the only American aircraft carrier operating in the region, therefore, the Super Hornet is either from VFA-31 or VFA-87.
