Romania cleared to buy Patriot air defense missile system

The U.S. State Department has cleared the Foreign Military Sale case of Patriot air defense missile system to Romania. Congress was informed on the decision on Jul. 10.

The proposed $3.9 billion deal consists of seven Patriot Configuration-3+ Modernized Fire Units along with 56 MIM-104E Guidance Enhanced Missile-TBM (GEM-T) missiles and 168 Patriot Advanced Capabilty-3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) missiles.
