USS Wasp underway for Japan, to replace USS Bonhomme Richard

The U.S. Navy announced that USS Wasp (LHD 1) has departed for Sasebo, Japan, Aug. 30. The ship will replace USS Bonhomme Richard as the 7th Fleet’s forward-deployed amphibious assault ship.

Trump accepts Singapore’s offer of CH-47s for help in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts

U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted Singapore’s offer of four CH-47 helicopters to aid the U.S. relief operations in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
