Japan to research on MIMO radar technology for detecting stealth aircarft

The Japanese Ministry of Defense is seeking $179 million of funding to research on Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) radar technology for the detection of stealth aircraft.

A prototype will be built with the aim of rolling it out in 2024.

Meanwhile, the Ministry will seek funding in the fiscal 2018 budget for the acquisition of Aegis Ashore system.
