Romania has decided to equip its IAR-99 TD jet with Leonardo’s Vixen 500E AESA radar. National Institute for Aerospace Research “Elie Carafoli” (INCAS) will integrate the radar on a Romanian Air Force IAR-99 Soim (prototype no. 7003).
The Italian aerospace giant had previously work with INCAS to install the former’s Seaspray 5000E AESA surveillance radar on INCAS’s special mission BN-2 Islander aircraft.
