Boeing will expand its stable of aerospace companies with the plan acquisition of Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation, both companies announced the decision on Oct. 5.

A Boeing executive said the combined strength and innovation of both companies “will advance the development of autonomy for (Boeing’s) commercial and military systems.”
The Manassas-based company will retain an independent operating model after the acquisition.
