USS Monterey making unscheduled deployment to fix BMD woes in Pacific

USS Monterey, a guided-missile cruiser, is making an unscheduled deployment on Oct. 16 to the 5th and 6th Fleet areas so that USS O’Kane can be deployed to the 7th Fleet.

The sailing branch has an urgent need to fill up ballistic missile defense duties caused by the withdrawal of USS John S. McCain and Fitzgerald. O’Kane was originally scheduled to deploy to the 5th and 6th Fleet.
