Indian Navy cleared to buy 111 naval utility helicopters

The Indian Navy has been given the green light to buy 111 naval utility helicopters for its air arm. The budget allocated is $3.3 billion.

Under the Make in India initiative, 16 helicopters will be imported while the rest will be assembled in India.

Hindu Business Line reports that the AS565 MBe and Bell 429 are potential contenders.
