Fighter pilot that flew last combat mission of World War 2 has died

The United States Army Air Forces P=51 fighter pilot who flew the final combat mission of World War II, Jerome “Jerry” Yellin, has passed away on Dec. 21 in Florida.

Yellin’s mission was to strafe a Japanese airfield near Tokyo on Aug. 15, 1945. His wingman for that mission did not survive and was deemed to have been killed in action.
