Indian Navy confident INS Vikrant will be ready by 2020

A senior Indian Navy officer has said that the country’s first indigenous aircraft carrier – the future INS Vikrant – will be ready by 2020.

A report from India’s Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said the ship won’t be ready for service until 2023.

“That was CAG’s version, as far as Navy is concerned, we are confident (of the 2020 deadline),” said Commodore Chaudhary, the Principal Director Naval Design.
