Sweden cleared to buy Patriot air defense missile system

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress on the potential Foreign Military Sale to Sweden of Patriot Configuration-3+ Modernized Fire Units for an estimated cost of $3.2 billion.

The news release on Feb. 20 added that Sweden will be getting 100 MIM-104E Guidance Enhanced Missile-TBM (GEM-T) missiles and Patriot Advanced Capabilty-3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) missiles to go along with the fire units.

24 U.S. Government and 32 contractor representatives will have to stay in Sweden for long periods in order to support the program.
