India will soon select winner for MANPADS competition

Seven years after releasing its request for proposals for a new man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) to replace the 9K38 Igla, India will soon make a decision and select a winner to proceed on with price negotiations.

According to The Hindu, only MBDA of France; Rosoboronexport of Russia; and SAAB of Sweden are deemed to have meet the requirements laid out by the Defense Ministry.

Selection will be based on the lowest bid received.
