The official spokesman for Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. Chen Chung-chi, has refuted an online report that says the island is interested in leasing F-15s.

Chen called the report “pure speculation by the media.”
Up Media published a story on Mar. 19 saying that Washington has suggested that Taiwan lease F-15s instead of buying them to boost the capability of its Air Force.
