U.S. Navy helicopter aircrewman killed in fuel tank accident

A U.S. Navy helicopter aircrewman was killed and another one injured when a fuel tank from a HH-60 helicopter detached and landed both of them.

The incident took place at NAS North Island on Jul. 30. Helicopter Aircrewman 1st Class Jonathan Richard Clement later died from injuries after being transported to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest.

He and the other colleague were conducting a post-flight inspection of the helicopter when the accident occurred.
