Boeing has lost the contract to upgrade E-3’s radar

Bloomberg has reported that Boeing has lost the $76 million contract to upgrade the radar for the U.S. Air Force’s E-3 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft.

The U.S. Air Force says Boeing required several additional years and an additional $60 million to finish the project. The service’s Life Cycle Management Center decided to terminate the contract in May. It will now seek to upgrade the radar’s processor instead.
