USN: Pilots followed rules in unscheduled flyby at Packers game

The U.S. Navy has determined that the crew of two MH-60Rs from HSM-75 did not break any rules or regulations during their unscheduled flyby of Lambeau Field on Aug. 16.

The Green Bay Packers were hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers in a preseaon game and both spectators and teams were surprised when the helicopters circled the stadium.

“The aircrew followed an approved flight profile consistent with flights into and out of Green Bay (Austin Straubel) International Airport. The aircrew were in contact with, and received explicit permission from, the control tower that owned the airspace throughout flight operations, obeyed relevant altitude and speed requirements, and their conduct was assessed as safe and professional,” the service said in an email.
