Japan sending more JASDF aircraft to Pacific island nations

The Yomiuri Shimbun says Japan intends to send more Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) planes to Pacific island nations to promote exchanges with locals in those countries.

For the first time, a C-130 made a stop at Marshall Islands while on the way to the United States for an exercise. The aircraft brought wheelchairs and sports gear to donate to the island nation.

Yomiuri Shimbun says the move is to counter China’s increasing influence in the Pacific islands.
