Britain’s Mapping agency to launch mapping drone

Ordnance Survey, the national mapping agency of the United Kingdom, plans to launch a solar-powered drone to capture higher quality images of the Earth.

Ordnance Survey owns 51% of the new company Astigan. It will use optical cameras similar to those on mapping aircraft.

First flight is this year and the drone will operate at 67,000 ft for up to 90 days.
