50 years ago, North Korea shot down a USN EC-121M

Fifty years ago on this day, two North Korean Air Force MiG-21s intercepted a U.S. Navy EC-121M intelligence gathering aircraft and shot it down.

30 sailors and 1 Marine were killed in the incident. The aircraft was assigned to VAQ-1 and had been airborne for nearly 8 hours.
