China confirms failure to put SAR spy satellite into space

China has confirmed that the launch of Yaogan-33 satellite aboard a Long March 4C rocket on May 23 has failed. The third stage of the launch system was to be blamed for the failure.


NASA Spaceflight says the Yaogan-33 is the second of a new type of SAR reconnaissance satellite developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST).
