An airdrop exercise carried out by a Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) C-1 cargo plane on Jun. 18 went wrong when a 81mm mortar landed outside the training area.
The incident happened near Shizuoka Prefecture. The weapon was not carrying live ammunition at that time.
