China’s 14th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), its main contractor that develops airborne early warning (AEW) systems believes that in future, AEW platforms will no longer require the traditional radome in order to function.

CETC says the next generation of AEW aircraft are unmanned, interconnected, has artificial intelligence to function. They will be more aerodynamic and stealthy in shape.
