VH-92A’s exhaust scorches White House South Lawn

The U.S. Navy has found a “high risk” issue with the VH-92A Marine One Presidential helicopter. Apparently, the exhaust from the helicopter left scorch marks on the White House lawn.

Sikorsky VH-92 lands at the White House during tests on 22 September 2018 (180922-M-ZY870-434)

On that particular day, the helicopter carried out 14 landings at the White House South Lawn and only one landing resulted in the scorching of the lawn.

The Government Accountability Office says in a report that Lockheed Martin is expected to fix the issue by November 2020.
