India has decided not to work with Safran on improving the Kaveri

India’s Kaeri jet engine has run into trouble again after the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) discovered that it will be too expensive to pay for its development using French assistance.

Safran is suppose to provide offsets in India from the Rafale deal but the company will only allow $277 million worth of offsets to be used in the Kaeri project.

The DRDO will then have to fork out another $554 million to complete the project.
