Alarms are ringing in Washington after it was reported that China has gained a controlling stake in Ukrainian jet engine manufacturer Motor Sich.

U.S. national-security adviser John Bolton raised the issue with Ukraine during his visit to the country this week.
“This is an issue that I think is significant for Ukraine, but [also] significant for the U.S., for Europe, for Japan, for Australia, Canada, other countries,” Bolton told RFE/RL in Kyiv on August 27.
