Construction of 20 HAS at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea completed

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed the construction of twenty new third generation hardened aircraft shelters (HAS) at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea.

Twenty new hardened aircraft shelters will soon be ready for use at Kunsan Air Base thanks to the work of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and their partners (Photo by Karey Park).


A ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the transfer is scheduled for July 2020.

Twenty existing aircraft shelters were demolished and 18 more new aircraft shelters are to be built.

These new shelters will allow the aircraft to start up with the hangar doors closed as they are installed with ventilation and engine exhaust system.
