The Irish Defence Forces have published its Equipment Development Plan 2020-24 document and the military is considering the purchase of air combat interceptors.
The program is still at pre-planning stage and the consideration will be dependent on additional funding.
Being from Ireland and knowing my country’s political class and their disdain for national defence, I was skeptical of this article. Indeed I have read through the paper and found only a vague reference to Air Combat Interceptors in the Future Programmes at Pre Planning Stage section and can assure you that the Irish government will never by Jet Fighters.
