France cleared to buy 3 E-2Ds

The U.S. government has informed Congress on the potential Foreign Military Sale of three E-2D Hawkeyes to France on Jul. 6.

NORFOLK, Va. (September 9, 2019) – An E-2D Hawkeye being recieved by the “Greyhawks” of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 120 completes landing procedures at Naval Station Norfolk Monday, September 9. This is the first E-2D Hawkeye with aerial refueling capability to join the fleet, increasing the Navy’s battlespace awareness and integrated fire control — both from the air and the sea. The package is worth an estimated cost of $2 billion and France is getting four extra T-56-427A engines as spares.
