Future carrier air wings will have a squadron of 16 F-35Cs

The U.S. Navy has decided that in future, its carrier air wings will have a squadron of 16 F-35Cs instead of 10.

This was disclosed during the Virtual Hook convention on Sept. 11.

The number of strike fighters for each wing will remain at 44 aircraft and the three other squadrons of Super Hornets will field 28 jets.

Each wing will also have a MQ-9 squadron with five to nine aircraft.
