Building two warships to replace Aegis Ashore for Japan will cost $4.8 billion

A audit into the costs of building two new warships as the alternative for Aegis Ashore has found that it will cost Japan $4.8 billion.

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and U.S. Sailors manning the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense Test Complex (AAMDTC) at the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) at Kauai, Hawaii, successfully conducted Flight Test Integrated-03 (FTI-03).

The new Maya-class destroyer already costs $1.6 billion each. The new warship will need to be lengthened, raising the tonnage.
