Thieves stole 39 pieces of radio equipment from Il-80 airborne command post

Russia’s RenTV reported on Dec. 7 that a Il-80 command post that is undergoing maintenance at Taganrog Yuzhny airport was broken into and had equipment stolen.

The theft was discovered on Dec. 4. According to the news report, 39 radio equipment and 5 electronic boards were taken from the aircraft.

The thieves were said to have entered the jet via a cargo hatch. The hatch was sealed and last inspected on Nov. 26. Their fingerprints were found inside the aircraft.
