IM-SHORAD system completes testing on White Sands Missile Range

The Initial Maneuver Short Range Air Defense (IM-SHORAD) system has completed its testing at White Sands Missile Range.

The Initial Maneuver Short Range Air Defense System is a Stryker-based air defense platform to replace the Avenger system. The IM-SHORAD is more mobile, flexible, better protected, and according to the Soldiers, more comfortable to use that the Avenger.

Testing was carried out by the U.S. Army’s 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment (5-4 ADA). The unit will eventaully return to Germany to field the system there.
