VRM-40 to be established this fall at NAS North Island

The U.S. Navy will established its second CMV-22B unit and the first squadron for the East Coast, at NAS North Island this fall.

201120-N-SS900-1248 PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 20, 2020) Sailors assigned to Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Squadron (VRM) 30 direct a CMV-22B Osprey from the “Titans” of VRM 30 on the flight deck of Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). This evolution marked the first time the Navy’s CMV-22B Ospreys have landed on a carrier. Vinson is currently underway conducting routine maritime operations. VMFA-242 to start operating F-35B from this month at Iwakuni, Japan

A briefing by Japan’s Chugoku-Shikoku Defense Bureau on Mar. 31 revealed that the U.S. Marine Corps’ VMFA-242 will start operating the F-35B at MCAS Iwakuni from this month.

An F-35B Lightning II with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 121, lands at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Jan. 18, 2017. VMFA-121 conducted a permanent change of station to MCAS Iwakuni, from MCAS Yuma, Ariz., and now belongs to Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The F-35B Lightning II is a fifth-generation fighter, which is the world’s first operational supersonic short takeoff and vertical landing aircraft. The F-35B brings strategic agility, operational flexibility and tactical supremacy to III MEF with a mission radius greater than that of the F/A-18 Hornet and AV-8B Harrier II in support of the U.S. – Japan alliance. Qatar, Saudi Arabia and U.K. will operate the AH-64E V6

The U.S. Army’s Apache New Equipment Training (NET) team qualifies pilots who fly existing AH-64E version 4 or earlier into a fully qualified V6 pilot. The team is also assisting Saudi Ministry of National Guard (MNG) , Qatar and the United Kingdom customers with the training.
