Sea trial of Taiwan’s Sea Oryx short-range air defense system

A new image showing Taiwan’s LST-542 class tank landing ship, LCC-1, with a Sea Oryx short-range air defense system mounted on the stern of the ship has appeared online.

The former USS Dukes County is being used by Taiwan to carry out indigenous radar and missile testing. A large phased array radar system can be seen mounted on the deck of the ship.

The Sea Oryx is Taiwan’s equivalent of the American RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile system and uses the Sky Sword I short range infrared guided air-to-air missile.
