A two-seat F-16 of the Republic of China Air Force veered off the runway at Pingtung Air Base on Aug. 31 at 06:32 hrs local time. The pilot was not hurt in the accident.
The service issued a statement saying that the jet #6829 was taking part in a combat readiness take-off and landing exercise when it went off the wet runway after landing.
Fighters and E-2K early warning aircraft are stationed at Pingtung to prepare for a road runway exercise at nearby Jiadong Township for the Han Kuang 37 exercise.
