JS Izumo to commence testing with F-35B next week

Japan’s Ministry of Defense revealed on Sept. 30 that JS Izumo will commence testing with the F-35B from Oct. 3 to 7.

The brief statement says the testing involves “arrival and departure” procedures. It will be carried out in the Pacific Ocean.

The warship is now at MCAS Iwakuni and the commanding officer of the station, Col. Lance Lewis, was lead on a tour of the ship by the commanding of Izumo, Capt. Kawauchi.
