The latest figures by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) revealed that it had carried out 390 scrambles for the first half of this year. This is for the period beginning in April and till the end of September.

The majority of the scrambles are for Chinese aircraft which accounted for 72 percent of the scrambles. Russia accounted for 102 launches and 7 of the scrambles are of unknown origin.
