Japan Coast Guard will soon share MQ-9B data in real time with JMSDF

The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) will soon share the data acquired from its leased MQ-9B with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

Currently, the data is process by JCG before transferring it to the JMSDF. Both sides will switch to this new cooperation method in the next fiscal year.

The JMSDF is also hoping to use the experience to evaluate the feasibility of operating its own MQ-9B in future.

According to the news report, Tokyo is exploring the feasibility of deploying the MQ-9B at MSDF Iwo Jima Air Base to monitor the Pacific Ocean.
