A recent disclosure by the U.S. Air Force indicates Boeing could lose more than $700 million on the KC-46 tanker program.
The U.S. House Appropriations Committee’s subcommittee on defense has ordered the Air Force to report o Congress any cost increase of $5 million or more in the KC-46A program.
EADS North America CEO, Sean O’Keefe, said he sees an opportunity to sell a larger aerial refueling tanker to the U.S. Air Force after Boeing’s final configuration for the KC-X was revealed.
The first four Boeing 767 destined for the U.S. Air Force as KC-46A refueling tankers have been added to to its order tally on Thursday.
EADS has conceded defeat in its attempt to sell an aerial refueling tanker to the U.S. Air Force.

Reuters reported that EADS could announce as soon as Friday that it won’t protest the US Air Force’s award of the KC-X aerial refueling tanker contest to Boeing.

The U.S. Air Force has decided that Boeing will supply it with the next generation aerial refueling tanker.
A U.S. senior defense official hinted that the winner of the protracted USAF refueling tanker contest could be unveiled as early as Thursday.
The Pentagon’s Inspector General has cleared the USAF of any wrong doing in the data mix-up of the KC-X tanker contest.
