建軍空窗期 二代半戰機 F-16升級 F-15出局
The China Times is reporting that Taiwan wish to buy 40 to 60 F-16 C/D Blk 50/52s and deploy the Joint Strike Fighter in 2020.
Plans to buy used F-15s from United States have been shelved as deploying them will be maintenance intensive.
If the F-16 Blk 50/52s are deployed, Taiwan intends to withdraw the local made IDF fighter from the front line and deploy them as trainers due to high fuel consumption and to prolong their lifespan. The F-5 Tigers will be retired and could be sold to South-East Asian countries.
