Its been a long time since we heard about the NASA X-48 project. Now Aviation Week has the latest news on how Dryden Flight Research Center will transform the X-48B into the X-48C for its next phase of research.

One of the major modifications done will be to swap the original three 50-lb. thrust turbojet engines with two 80-lb. thrust geared turbofans.
The second modification involves moving the winglets inboard to become tails to shield the engine nacelles.
