AFRL researching new composite material for B-2

The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) hopes to replace the composite material on the B-2’s hot trailing edge with a new one.

Located behind the exhaust nozzles on the aircraft’s upper surface, replacing the skin with composite material AFR-PE-4 could virtually eliminate field repairs, reduce downtime, and achieve higher mission.
