A Reuters special report on U.S weapons sales tactics gleamed from data obtained by WikiLeaks revealed that Lockheed Martin had agreed to former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s demands to pay for F-16s using 80,000 frozen chicken back in 2005.
At that time, the RTAF was considering the Sukhoi Su-30MK, Saab Gripen and Lockheed Martin F-16. Thailand ultimately choose the Gripen after Thaksin was disposed by a coup.
